Fortunately Stories
By Barwell Elementary's First Graders

This adventure started by reading a story called Fortunately by Remy Charlip. It's the story of some fortunate and unfortunate things that happen to a young boy named Ned. After we read the story, our first graders wrote their own Fortunately stories. Enjoy!

Mrs. Stovers' Class:

Last week I went to Georgia.
Fortunately, I went to my uncle's military graduation.
Unfortunately, we had to drop him off at base. I was sad.
Fortunately, my mom said we can come and see him again.
Last week I sent to the zoo.
Fortunately, I saw some lions.
Unfortunately, the lion roared at me.
Fortunately the lion person fed the lions.
Last week I sent to the zoo.
Fortunately, I saw monkeys.
Unfortunately, I had bananas and the monkey chased me.
Fortunately they fell in the pond.
Last week I went to the fair.
Fortunately I saw a roller coaster.
Unfortunately the roller coaster was closed.
Fortunately I went on the ferris wheel instead.
Last week I went to the park.
Fortunately I went on the monkey bars.
Unfortunately I fell off.
Fortunately a man caught me.
Last week I went to a ball.
Fortunately I had a beautiful dress.
Unfortunately there was no music.
Fortunately we did have some cake.
Last week I went to the park.
Fortunately I played on the slide.
Unfortunately I fell off.
Fortunately I went on the swings.

Ms. Schwachenwald's Class:

Last week I went to the Zoo.
Fortunately we got on the train.
Unfortunately the train had a loud whistle.
Fortunately we went into a tunnel.
Last week I went to my mom's job.
Fortunately I was good at her job.
Unfortunately I got sick.
Fortunately my mom said I love you!
Last week I went to the park. A cat was behind me.
Fortunately the cat smiled a me.
Unfortunately he bit me on my hand.
Fortunately I held him.
Last week I went to the lake.
Fortunately I could swim.
Unfortunately there were fish but I was not scared.
Fortunately I had fun.
Last week I went to the playground.
Fortunately I went with my mom.
Unfortunately I fell down and tore my jeans.
Fortunately my dad bought me new jeans.
