My House Is Me and
I Am It
By Ms. Walter's Fourth Graders

(If
a house isn't linked yet, check back later for that story.)
Ms. Walters' students read
a wonderful story by Daniel Manus Pinkwater called "The Big Orange
Splot." Mr. Plumbean, who is the main character in the story,
created a house to live in that showed the world what his dreams were
after a seagull dropped a big splot of orange paint on his roof.
After reading this story the
students thought about their dreams. They created a house to show something
they dream of doing or being someday. They wrote about their houses and
then illustrated them in KidPix.
As Mr. Plumbeam said, "My
house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like
all my dreams." Read about the dreams of these terrific fourth graders!
