The Wall of Honor

Barwell Road Elementary students and teachers honored veterans this year by creating a Wall of Honor. Mrs. Corbitt, Barwell's media specialist, started the project by reading The Wall by Eve Bunting to each class. Then she conducted a Paideia seminar with the students. Students discussed why people left things at the wall, and even their thoughts on why people join the military. After the seminar, the students had an opportunity to take home a special "brick" and record the name of a family or friend who was a veteran. When the bricks were returned to school, they were added to our Wall of Honor.
