Barwell Road Elementary operates on a year-round calendar with charter-like flexibility granted by the state of North Carolina. Our 177-day academic year is structured into four quarters, each followed by a restorative break.This continuous learning model eliminates the "summer slide," reducing the need for lengthy autumn reviews. By replacing the long summer vacation with frequent three-week breaks, we ensure both students and teachers remain energized. These intervals also provide valuable windows for targeted enrichment and remedial support, all while delivering a high-quality traditional curriculum focused on advanced studies and creative exploration.
